Course Description
Currently, there are nearly 17 million cancer survivors in the US. Many of these survivors will experience late and long term side effects from cancer treatment, including physical, emotional, and mental trauma, as well as concerns for recurrence or even the development of a new malignancy. Quality of life is greatly affected in this growing population, and my goal in this talk is to discuss how primary care physicians, naturopathic physicians, and integrative and functional medicine physicians may serve as the bridge to help cancer survivors transition from the end of active cancer treatment through the continuum of cancer survivorship.
Learning Objectives
1) The fundamentals on cancer survivorship: 1. prevention, 2. surveillance, 3. intervention, 4. coordination
2) Challenges in the field of cancer survivorship, the "black hole"
3) Why integrative medicine physicians and naturopathic physicians are fundamental providers to cancer survivors

About the Instructor
Easter Ho pursued her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University with the goal of helping patients who are diagnosed with cancer experience a higher quality of life. Dr. Ho’s private practice is located within two cancer treatment centers in the greater Seattle area. In addition to oncology, her passion and wish is to deliver preventative care and lifestyle & wellness medicine to patients living anywhere in the world. She is a certified functional medicine physician through the Institute for Functional Medicine since 2018. When Dr. Ho is not taking care of patients, she enjoys swimming, traveling, indulging in beauty through fashion and creative ideas, and volunteering at Cancer Lifeline, where she serves on the Board of Directors.
